20 Questions with my WCW @tapswithtor

Tory from @tapswithtor is a super knowledgeable beer gal. She is a regional editor of the hugely popular beer blog PorchDrinking.com and a craft beer Insta-star. So sit down, grab a cold one and read about Tory’s favorite beers.

1 Where are you from?
Born and raised in the Hudson Valley, two hours north of New York City.

2 What beers can we find in your fridge right now? 
3 What is your favorite local beer?

Fieldwork Brewing and Hudson Valley Brewing

4 How long have you been loving the craft brews?
 I believe I switched to a predominant craft beer drinker in 2012

5 How did you get into craft beer? 

It started when I lived in Boulder and then it really took off when I moved to the Bay Area. First Bear Republic with Racer 5 then Fieldwork Brewing hooked me with Daypack Pale Ale, and The Rare Barrel – any and all of their beautiful beers.

6 What is your favorite style of beer?

I trend towards big juicy DIPA’s and mouth puckering sours.

7 What are your top 3 favorite beers?
  1. Young Murks (Fieldwork Brewing x Pure Project Brewing)
  2. Vin Syrah (Humble Sea Brewing)
  3. Frogger GLC (Bottle Logic x Great Notion Brewing)
8 What beer are you dying to try?

Anything from Bearded Iris, Finback, and Homage Brewing.

9 What place have you been to that has the best beer scene?
North Park, San Diego.
Yet to visit: High on the list is Portland (Oregon and Maine), Asheville Seattle, and need to spend more time experiencing the Atlanta culture and craft scene.

10 What is your favorite brewery to visit?
Plan Bee Farm Brewery in Poughkeepsie, NY

11 I’m a sucker for a cute can. What beer do you think has the best bottle/ can art?

12 What new brewery are you most excited about?

Humble Sea just celebrated their one year anniversary and I couldn’t be more impressed with what they’ve done and an even more excited for their future. They are great people making delicious beers.

13 What’s the most shameful beer you drank back in the day?

Bud heavy

14 Have you ever tried to home brew?

Yes three times, one IPA and Two Double IPAs. The first DIPA was definitely the only success.

15 Where is your favorite place to drink a beer?

Favorite would be in the mountains on a hike with a dog and then a lager /pilsner on the beach

16 How do you prefer to drink beer- keg, cask, can or bottle?

100% Can (can take it on adventures)

 

17 Besides beer what’s another favorite beverage?

A really good red wine. My favorite winery William Selyem

18 Any recommendations to read or listen to for craft beer lovers?  (book, magazines, blog, podcast)
